If you are interested in improving your notebooks speed then it’s time you considered a ram memory upgrade. One of the first things you should do before upgrading your ram is find out the basics on whats necessary to do the simple upgrade. It’s very important that you purchase the right memory considering there are so many variations available in the shops online and off. By browsing through your laptops documents you will find the possible memory upgrades you can purchase as well what type of memory your laptop accepts.

Evaluating how much memory your laptop has installed currently.

There are a number of ways to check the amount of ram memory currently operating in your laptop. One of the fastest ways to see whats being used is by visiting the system bios. The bios setup menu is activated by pressing the F2 key during system boot. You will need to locate the memory tab in your bios to find out what amount of memory is installed.

An optional way to check your ram is to boot through to windows and open your system folder for laptop performance and specifications. An easy way to get to your system specifications is by visiting the system menu and clicking on the performance tab. Ram, processor and operating system information will be shown on the following screen according to your laptop.

If your systems performance is not running as expected then you should at least double the ram memory to gain a boost in system performance. Doubling your ram configuration will usually suffice for many peoples needs. .

Finding out your current ram slot configuration and following through with installation.

The memory bay where your ram is located is usually found via a panel underneath your laptop.. The plastic panel hiding the memory bay is commonly attached usually by a type of screw or system sliding lock.. The ram panel in a lot of cases can be difficult to locate so take your time and check any manual or documents you have access to.

You will now be able to check how many ram slots you have in your system as well as the current ram setup once you have access to the memory bay. With your new ram memory at proceed to install your chip into a freely available slot otherwise remove an existing memory stick and replace with the new one.

If you intend to add additional memory to your existing configuration then make sure the new ram memory is of equal specification in size and performance. Another way apart from installing pairs is to just install a single ram unit, but this in many cases will leave you with a ram stick that is not being used. Its entirely up to you what method you choose to perform. Pick one that is most convenient for you..

What is PC optimization? In simple words, the PC optimization is working towards improving your PC’s performance. There are thousands of tips and ways to optimize a PC. Today, the software market is flooded with PC optimization software capable of improving the performance of a computer system.

Computer support experts will help you troubleshoot common computer errors like computer repair, slow computer, virus problem, spyware etc by taking you through the complete process and get your system back to its top performance by providing computer optimization tips. Let us focus on some of the important tips of PC optimization.

Clean your PC desktop: Keep your desktop clean. If there are lots of shortcut icons on the desktop then you should remove them. Shortcuts placed on the desktop occupy huge system space thereby making the system slow. It is recommended that you should keep only the recycle bin and some of the most used applications on your PC desktop.

Reduce the maximum size of recycle bin: By default the maximum size of recycle bin is set high. You can change the memory size to a lower value so as to free up your system memory.

Turn off screensaver: Screensavers are also voracious eaters of system’s memory. Turn off the screensavers and colorful displays on your computer to make it fast.

Remove temporary files from your PC: Windows system automatically store temporary files at some location on your PC. These temporary files can eat a lot of system memory so you can free up your system memory by removing the temporary files. For instance, Windows XP offers a “Disk Cleanup” utility for removing all the unwanted temporary files stored on your PC.

Identify and repair disk errors: You can check for the integrity of the files stored on your computer hard disk by running the Error checking software utility present in Windows operating system.

Rearrange data stored on your hard disk: Several times the data stored on the hard disk is in fragmented form thereby consuming a large system memory. So, for improving the performance of your computer you should defragment all the data stored on the hard disk. Windows include a built-in software utility known as “Disk Defragmenter”, which is capable of defragmenting the hard disk. Follow this step every month for a better system performance.

Protect your PC against viruses: It is strongly recommended to install some good antivirus software having the automatic update feature to provide real time protection for your PC against viruses, worms and other types of malicious codes.

Finally, it is a good practice to refresh your desktops regularly. Refreshing the desktop will remove all the unused files from the RAM thereby making the system faster.

Computers are small machinery, which demand regular PC health check maintenance for their proper functioning. You can improve the performance of your computer system in many ways. Mentioned below are some of the most common ways to improve the performance of your Windows XP computer system.

Start with removing temporary files from your PC: When you are working on any application or surfing Internet, your system automatically stores temporary files at some place in your PC. After some time these files get collected and eats up a large computer memory thereby slowing down your computer system. As a result it is strongly recommended that you run the procedure to clean up temporary files from your computer.

Run Windows Disk Cleanup utility offered by Windows to remove all the unnecessary temporary files from your PC with computer optimization. Here is the procedure to run to Disk Cleanup:

Step 1. Click on “Start”, and then click “My Computer”.

Step 2. Right-click on the drive you wish to clean for temporary files, and go to “Properties”.

Step 3. Click on the “Disk Cleanup” button in the Properties dialog box.

Step 4. The utility will calculate the amount of space that can be freed up depending upon data stored on the hard drive. After the scanning is complete it will show a list of files that can be removed from the computer.

Step 5. View the files if you want to decide which all files you want to delete and click on “OK” to remove the files.

Rearrange all the stored data on the hard disk: Sometimes, the data is stored in fragmented form on the hard disk. The fragmentation of data on Hard disk results in a slower performing system. So, as to make your system a good performer the data needs to be defragmented. Windows includes a software utility known as “Disk Defragmenter”, which performs the task of defragmentation. Carry out the following steps to run Disk Defragmenter:

Step 1. Click on “Start”, and then click “My Computer”.

Step 2. Right-click on the drive from the list of available drive you wish to defragment and then click on “Properties” tab.

Step 3. Click on the “Tools” tab followed by clicking on the Defragmentation section.

Step 4. Click on the option named “Defragment now”.

Step 5. Now the Disk Defragmenter dialog box will open, select the drive to defragment and then click on “Analyze”.

Step 6. After the completing the task of analyzing the drive, click on the “Defragment” button to defragment all the data stored on that drive.

Similarly, there are several other utilities, which can improve the performance of your Windows PC. These utilities are embedded in the Windows operating system to achieve a better system performance.
